Spring, reluctant as it may have been, has finally sprung and with it the need to resupply the ol' gear stash! Enter Backpacker Magazine, which has just released its 2014 Gear Guide filled with over 300 trail-tested products, including the Gerber Outrigger knife.
Lauded as a durable, lightweight folder, the Outrigger rose to the top of the mountain based on a torture test normally reserved for fixed blade knives. "The lone survivor" of a folding knife baton test, the Outrigger outlasted five competitors to gain inclusion in the editors '10 Essentials' round up, also scoring marks for its"buttery smooth assisted-opening", easy ambidextrous opening, and smartly designed skeletonized aluminum frame.
